WHY WE SHOULD SPEAK KINDLY

A movie about broken windows and divine grace.

Creating and building things is an exciting endeavour. Designing and moulding things into existence has a thrill of its own. However, ironically enough, destruction also has something quite electrifying to it. The view of things getting destroyed – like a building collapsing as a bomb rips through its struture – can be quite impressive, and so destruction of any kind exercises a certain seductive pull. Devastation doesn’t have to come in a form that is lethal though or even physical. There is another way through which we can break, tear or pull down other people and Jesus warned us not to give into the tempting potential it entails. Challenging us to be persons who create and build up rather than tear down, he calls us to be channels of divine grace as we speak to those around us.
